OUR MATERIALS

We take a lot of pride in our product development. The puzzle of finding the right material fit and construction for a certain piece of sportswear has always fascinated us. On this page, you can find the list of our materials and our motivation to use them in our healthy training gear.

TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal

We use both TENCEL™ Lyocell and TENCEL™ Modal in our sportswear for their odor-repellent and antistatic properties. These fibres, made from wood pulp, are sourced from FSC-certified European forests. In order to combat deforestation, these trees are grown and regrown when they are used to create products. They are then further processed by Lenzing in Austria, which has won multiple awards for their sustainability efforts and who are widely regarded as some of the most sustainable and innovative manufacturers in the clothing industry. Both Modal and Lyocell are used in our sportswear, depending on the needed properties of an end product. Besides that, we also use TENCEL™ Lyocell sewing thread for 90%+ of our products.

GOTS Organic Cotton

Our organic cotton is GOTS certified and sourced within Europe. By having the GOTS certificate, we can ensure that our cotton has been grown responsibly and with ethical circumstances for the people involved in the processing of our organic cotton. For the growing of regular cotton, usually a lot of pesticides are used, which can damage the soil. There are other certification for organic cotton on the market, but in our opinion only GOTS certified cotton is up to par with what nature needs. Our cotton is sourced from Greece and Turkey.

Hemp

Hemp is one of the most versatile and sustainable materials on the planet. The whole plant can be used for a multitude of products, including the yarns that we make from the stem of the hemp plant. If we could, we would make everything out of hemp, but as hemp retains heat, it has limited applications in sportswear. It has natural odor-repellent properties, which is why we use it for our towels for example. Our raw hemp is sourced from Lithuania.

Natural Rubber

This material comes from rubber trees and provides stretchy yarns, that can be used in some products. We currently use it as the base stretch material for elastic bands in a multitude of products. The rubber we use is FSC certified and comes from Malaysia.

CREORA™ Bio-Based

This stretch fiber is made from 30% renewable resources, compared to the regular version of elastane, which is 0% bio-based. Already a step in the right direction, but in the future we hope that we can make 100% bio-based elastane. This stretch material is not needed for all products, but for products that need to be tight to the skin like leggings, there is currently no other viable option on the market. We test this material to make sure no harmful chemicals are present in the end product.

Trims

For each product, specific trims can be needed. Wherever possible, we use alternatives to plastic. For some products, it is currently not possible, or the drawbacks are simply too much to use alternatives. This happens when it comes to the zippers that we have to use in a few products for example. For each product, a detailed description of each material and trim used is available on the product pages.

Vegan

We are always looking to incorporate new materials into our collections, as technology progresses forward and novel, sustainable materials are introduced to the market. We don’t use any animal derived products for our sportswear such as leather or wool, so we are completely vegan.

Road to Plastic Free Sportswear

Our vision for the future of training gear

One of our main goals with the brand is to become 100% plastic free. We want to achieve this because plastics can damage the environment as they degrade very slowly and because they can lead to microplastic pollution due to washing and friction. While we already have 95% of our collection plastic free, our aim is to reach 100%. Right now, however, it is not possible for certain products, like leggings to be created without a type of plastic called elastane.

To mitigate microplastic pollution, we use a special, custom made yarn, where CREORA™ (which is partly bio-based elastane) is used as a core thread, so it is kept safe from most friction and degration. This also goes for the plastic piece that is used on the inside of our cap visor, which is encapsulated in fabric, so it doesn’t shed microplastics when washed or used.
