Sustainability
Sustainability for us means taking incremental steps to a better future in all of our business practices. As a brand that was founded with the idea of creating the alternative to synthetic sportswear, we are always looking on how we can improve our efforts for a healthier planet.
To us, it is not a checklist that we tick, but rather a mindset of taking the extra steps needed to make our products have as much of a positive impact on both the planet and people, without the focus on profit maximization. As technology and research advances, we also need to keep a critical look on our own practices and adjust were needed.
Our Design Philosophy
Timeless products
The beginning of the development of each product in our collection begins with the notion of timelessness. All too often, products go in and out of fashion, creating an artificial lifespan of a product. We want to overcome this idea by creating products that can be worn anywhere and anytime.
This also expresses itself in our collections. We never work with seasonal collections, so we avoid overproduction and -consumption.
Incremental progress
We see sustainability and quality not as a checklist, but an ever evolving goal that we set our intentions to. Nothing we make is perfect, but having an open mindset on how things can be improved with new insights and technologies is what we aim to convey through our product development.
Prioritizing health
For every product that we make, we aim to have it as natural and healthy as possible. Finding a balance between performance, sustainability, and health offers a variety of design challenges that we take very seriously. Lots of sportswear use added harmful chemicals like BPA to enhance performance, but we steer clear from these and try to bring out the best that nature itself has to offer.
Homage to nature
One of our goals is to have you feel like you always have a piece of nature with you wherever you go. Of course, the materials that we use for our products are at the basis of this, but also for the colors we use, the fitting and overall design, we use nature as a core inspiration.
Healthy Sportswear
One of our goals is to create the healthiest sportswear on the planet. While sports make us feel good and more healthy, mainstream sports clothing might be doing the opposite. Recent research has shown that many sportswear products contain harmful chemicals like BPA and PFAS which could lead to health problems. We believe that what you’re wearing should enhance your health and not counteract it. It is good to remember that everything is made from chemicals (water, air, salt, etc. are all chemicals), but that some chemicals are harmless and others aren't.
Chemicals in our supply chain
Our main factory and dye house hold Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), bluesign®, and OEKO-TEX® certifications. Besides that they also adhere to REACH and the ZDHC MRSL, which means that they only work with chemicals that are not harmful to either people or the environment and that they test for this at multiple phases. Our products are tested for and are free from PFAS, BPA and AZO.
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
GOTS focuses on organic production, making sure no harmful chemicals are used in dyes or processes. It also checks that water, energy, and resources are used responsibly. This protects the environment and keeps the organic materials as natural as possible.
Bluesign®
Bluesign® takes a slightly different approach by looking at the inputs—like the dyes and treatments—right from the start. Everything is carefully checked to ensure it’s safe for workers, wearers, and the planet. Plus, bluesign® encourages reducing waste and using resources efficiently, which helps make our processes at the end of production even more sustainable and healthy.
OEKO-TEX®
Our sportswear is then tested by OEKO-TEX®, to ensure that no harmful chemicals are present in the end products. By combining all three certifications, we can cover all important steps to create healthy sportswear for you.
